My Spiritual Awakening…

In early 2014, during a challenging time in my life, I decided to book my very first Reiki session with a local Reiki Master. I hoped she could help me manage the high levels of stress and anxiety I was experiencing due to work and personal issues. I thought that even if the session didn’t work, at least I would have an hour to relax, enjoy soothing music, and breathe in the calming aroma of incense. What I didn’t expect was that this session would become the catalyst that changed my life forever.

​The experience was truly amazing and awakened some of my dormant psychic abilities that I had forgotten about. I felt tingling and clicking sensations throughout my body and saw beautiful, swirling colors that morphed into various shapes and objects. I also sensed the presence of my grandparents standing on either side of me. I recognized them as soon as they entered the room, despite the fact that they had both been deceased for many years. They came very close to me and communicated telepathically, telling me that they loved me and would always be there for me. The experience was surreal yet filled with love and relaxation, so I simply lay on the reiki table and allowed this peace to envelop me.

​After the healing session, I hesitantly asked the practitioner if it was common for spirits to come through during Reiki sessions. She told me that she didn't want to scare me or freak me out, but she had seen a petite female standing on one side of me and a larger male on the other. My heart sank into my stomach. I was completely taken aback because I hadn’t mentioned who I thought was there, and my grandmother was indeed a very petite woman. How could she know this? The practitioner saw my grandparents, and they were standing in the same spots where I sensed them. As tears streamed down my face, she continued to tell me that I was a gifted intuitive, just like her, with abilities that would reveal themselves in time. She advised me to pay close attention to my dreams in the days to come. She had no idea just how right she was going to be.

The following morning, I was awakened by a presence standing beside my bed. It loomed over me as if it were about to whisper something in my ear or kiss my cheek. Believe it or not, I wasn't scared at all. Instead, I felt a sense of unconditional love, and in my mind’s eye, I could see what this being looked like. It wore a white robe and was surrounded by a whitish-gold glow.

The morning after that, I was awakened again, this time by a loud whisper calling my name: “Kimmy!” The sudden sound startled me, and I jumped up with my heart pounding. I decided I needed to see the Reiki practitioner again; perhaps she could provide some insight into these occurrences and ease my mind about not being crazy. She informed me that I had met my Guardian Angel, which explained the glowing aura.


With each Reiki session I attended, my abilities began to awaken, just as she had said. Through visions, dreams, synchronicities, and memories of my spiritual experiences as a child, I became determined to learn as much as I could about the unseen world and further explore my gifts.

Since my first session, Reiki has become an integral part of my life. I am now a Usui Reiki Master and a Karuna Ki Reiki Master. Driven by my thirst for knowledge and my numerous experiences, I feel compelled to use what I have learned to assist others in their spiritual growth. It took many years for me to come out of the spiritual closet due to my fear of others' opinions, but I am grateful for the abilities I believe were given to me by a higher power. I know these gifts are meant to help others, both the living and the departed.
